Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick says he s optimistic about getting the votes he needs in the Texas Senate to pass a bill allowing permitless carrying of handguns. The House passed a constitutional carry bill earlier this month, and it appears to be headed for the floor of the Senate this week. Patrick said last week that he didn t have the 18 votes needed to open the debate on the Senate floor, but he s working on it. Governor Greg Abbott has said he ll sign the bill if it makes it to his desk.
