A 13-year-old boy died Friday after falling into Lemay Lake in Eagan. Authorities identified the teen as Jeylon Elijah Holloway of Bloomington. Holloway died of freshwater drowning, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Eagan police responded to a report of a missing child near Lemay Lake at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers found a shoe near the water, leading them to believe the Jeylon fell near a drainage culvert. Around 2:15 p.m. the Dakota County Sheriff s Office dive team responded and found him unresponsive in the water.

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) â Sheriffâs officials have identified the boy who drowned in an Eagan lake.
Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie says 13-year-old Jeylon Elijah Holloway was walking his dog last Thursday while staying at Sonesta ES Suites with his family who had recently moved back to Minnesota.
When the dog returned to the hotel alone, Jeylonâs mother called police. Eagan officers found Jeylonâs shoe near Lemay Lake, which isnât far from the hotel, leading them to believe the boy had fallen into open water.
The 13-year-old was staying with family at a nearby hotel.

ST. PAUL The 13-year-old boy who was pulled from Lemay Lake in Eagan last Thursday died the next day, authorities said.
The boy, identified Tuesday, Feb. 2, as Jeylon Elijah Holloway, was found underwater and unresponsive Thursday afternoon and transported to University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, where was taken off life support around 4:20 a.m., authorities said Tuesday. The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office said the boy drowned.
The boy and his family had just moved back to Minnesota and had been staying at Sonesta ES Suites near Lemay Lake, Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie said. On Thursday, the boy went for a walk with his dog, which he did daily, and either fell through the ice or fell from the shore and into open water, Leslie said.
