Agriland made the trip to the ‘wee’ county to meet Niall Matthews, chair of Lakeland Dairies, on his dairy farm in the townland of Tully.
The Co. Louth man was recently appointed chair of Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Ltd, having been a board member since 2017.
He is currently milking 220 mainly Holstein Friesian-type cows in partnership with his wife Juana and one full-time staff member.
Páidi Deery started on the farm just a few weeks ago and before that Conor Russell had been working on the farm for several years.

Liam Larkin has been co-opted onto the Board of Directors of Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Ltd, the Cavan-headquartered cooperative has announced.
Described as a “highly experienced food industry professional”, Larkin will serve as an independent non-executive director on the board, the co-op says.
According to Lakeland, Larkin brings over 40 years of Irish and global corporate experience and expertise gained from time spent in executive director and senior management roles across a wide range of operations and subsidiaries in Origin Enterprises plc and its predecessor IAWS Group plc.
