The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners have announced they are taking a leave of absence from the NOJHL for the remainder of the 2020-2021 NOJHL season due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Club President Steve Cox stated “this was not an easy decision by the board of directors but there is simply too much uncertainty regarding the relaxing of public health unit guidelines which would allow us to travel to play other teams in Northern Ontario and given the existing cohort regulations, we would be unable to hang on for another 28 days minimum before we could actually even start to plan to get into game play. We still remain committed to the NOJHL and to having a strong, competitive Gold Miner team ready to hit the ice for the 2021-2022 season.”
