3,000 miles won t see Indy snowplows; Public Works calls in contractors to help

Dan Parker, director of the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW), said Tuesday that about 3,000 miles of road in Marion County will not be plowed. Parker said Public Works crews have been working around the clock. “Like I said yesterday, we were not going to be down to bare pavement today but some streets have gotten down to bare pavement. You are going to see dramatic improvement between now and tomorrow morning when folks head back to work again.”

Five People Killed In Four Separate Shootings Tuesday Evening INDIANAPOLIS Five people have died in four separate shootings that spanned just fours hours in Indianapolis. So far not arrests have been made. Boulevard Place Officers with Indy Metro Police were called around 2:35 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 3900 block of Boulevard Place, north of the intersection of West 39th Street and Boulevard Place, on a report of a person shot. They arrived to find a woman shot who was taken to an area hospital. She died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said Tuesday evening. The Marion County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday night identified the woman who died as Ashley Bell, 32.

Officers later received a call of a walk-in person with a gunshot wound at Indianapolis Fire Department Station #24 on East 38th Street, less than a mile away from the initial call, and another of a walk-in person with a gunshot wound at Community East Hospital at 1500 N. Ritter Ave.
