NITHA reports 370 active COVID-19 cases; Athabasca reports The Northern Inter Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported 370 active cases of COVID-19 in their communities Tuesday. The far northwest zone reported the most active cases with 121. The second highest number of active cases was reported by the far northeast with 99. The northeast region reported 88 cases while the north central zone had 16. NITHA said 14 people are in hospital while the number of recoveries currently stands at 2,156. In the far north central Saskatchewan the Athabasca Health Authority reported 16 active cases Tuesday. The health authority also reported two new positive cases from their last report along with four new recoveries.

Health Authority ceased issuing these reports around the new year, citing it was not able to issue these reports daily and that it was impacting the care to the North.

The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) was named one of the 15 winners of the North American 2020 TD Ready Challenge presented by TD Bank Group. A $650,000 grant from the TD Bank Group will see researchers from the U of S s First Nations and Métis Health Research Network (FMHRN) work with partners Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and Métis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN–S).

383 active COVID-19 cases reported by NITHA Friday The Northern Inter Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) was reporting 383 active cases of COVID-19 in their communities Friday. The far northwest reported the highest number of cases with 131. The northeast has the second highest number of cases with 105 followed by the far northeast which is reporting 92 active cases. The north central zone had the lowest number of active cases with 17. NITHA said 16 people are in hospital while 2,022 recoveries are being reported. In the far north central part of the province the Athabasca Health Authority was reporting 24 active COVID-19 cases. The health authority said two of these cases are new ones. They also reported eight recoveries.
