Sharing the development, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh said that the airport in Arunachal Pradesh s capital city of Itanagar will be functional by the end of the year, while a facility is also coming up at Nagaland s capital city of Kohima.
It should be noted that presently, Guwahati is the only State capital in the North East region to have an international airport.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday assured all possible Central help to the earthquake-hit state of Assam, as he took stock of the situation there twice during the day.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman were among a host of Central leaders who spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and assured him all possible help to the state after the Wednesday morning earthquake.
An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude, followed by a series of aftershocks, hit Assam this morning, causing widespread damage in the Northeast state. Spoke to Assam CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal Ji regarding the earthquake in parts of the state. Assured all possible help from the Centre. I pray for the well-being of the people of Assam,” Modi tweeted.
