Hospitals in Cumbria are offering virtual maternity tours

Throughout the pandemic, their midwives have been supporting families-to-be in whatever way they could. Maternity units at these hospitals, managed by the North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust, are now open for virtual video tours, courtesy of the Trust. Janet Riley, Matron for maternity services at West Cumberland Hospital, said: Having a virtual tour in place is really important for anyone who is expecting to come to us. Both of the videos detail what you could expect to find upon your arrival, the different kind of rooms and what other facilities are in place for your stay. It is such an exciting time for parents to be and we want to make the journey as seamless as possible.

Carlisle organisations partner up to improve people s health and well-being

Thriving communities fund to improve people’s health and well-being. Arts and culture can transform lives, increase confidence, and support significant health improvements. Carlisle charity Prism Arts has seen this first-hand and is part of a new partnership developing accessible cultural experiences to improve people’s health and wellbeing. The partnership is made up of Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, Carlisle City Council, North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust, Carlisle Healthcare, Prism Arts, Susie Tate Projects and Cumbria Wildlife Trust. They will be working with other partners to increase the uptake of social prescribing to help improve the health and resilience of a community that has been hit by COVID-19 and lockdowns.
