May 11, 2021
The New England Patriots are known for winning and doing so by developing talent from seemingly every possible avenue. Whether it is through the NFL Draft, undrafted free agents, veteran free agents or the trade market, it just always appears as though Bill Belichick is a step ahead of the rest of the league.
With the 2021 NFL Draft recently coming and going, the Patriots were able to add eight new players to the roster. Among those picks were some well-known players at the collegiate level in addition to some lesser known players that could turn out to be massive steals down the road.

As was heavily expected ahead of the opening round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers spent the third overall pick on North Dakota State Bison quarterback Trey Lance last Thursday night.
Current San Francisco starting signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo recently said he s more than happy to serve as a mentor for Lance, and 49ers CEO Jed York told 49ers Talk that his ideal situation would include Jimmy G taking the franchise back to the Super Bowl for the second time since February 2020. We’ve talked about this internally, York explained. If we’re in a situation where Jimmy goes out and takes us to a Super Bowl again and has an MVP-caliber season, and does it again, there are worse dilemmas to be in. And Jimmy certainly has the ability to do that.

San Francisco ultimately drafted North Dakota State Bison quarterback Trey Lance with the third overall pick on Thursday night, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan explained during Monday s edition of The Rich Eisen Show that his team was never close to acquiring Rodgers ahead of or during the draft.
