Gary & Leo’s offering Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine

Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods’s pharmacy, Gary & Leo’s Health Mart, began administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine Monday, vaccinating about 50 people as of about 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Pharmacy Manager Eric Ward said the vaccines are being distributed on a first-come-first serve basis for everyone in Phase 1B+ of the state’s vaccine roll-out plan. Western Drug Pharmacy in Havre also has been administering the vaccine, along with clinics held by Hill County Health Department, Northern Montana Health Care and Bullhook Community Health Center and vaccine administered by the Merril.

Havre City Council Monday unanimously approved a variance to allow a local group to put up 40 ribbons and signs downtown in memory of the 40 Hill County residents who have died from COVID-19-related causes. Will Rawn, a member of the group, said they had received a one-month approval from the Montana Department of Transportation to display the white ribbons and signs, and removed the signs Sunday but wanted to put them up downtown.

A major COVID-19 vaccination clinic has been announced in the region at the same time that a reminder the virus that causes the disease is still in the area and still a danger. Rocky Boy Health Center announced a mass vaccination clinic set for Wednesday at the Stone Child College vo-tech building. At the same time, Northern Montana Health Care sent a notice out to family members of residents Thursday saying an employee at Northern Montana Care Center tested positive for COVID-19 and the restriction on visitors to the facility remains in place.
