The North Sand Mountain boys golf team has given itself the opportunity to play for a repeat.
The defending Class 1A-2A Boys Golf state champion Bison are headed back to the AHSAA Golf Championships after winning the North 1 Sub-state Tournament at Cross Creek Golf Course in Cullman on Wednesday.
NSM finished with a team score of 325, 42 shots better than runner-up Red Bay (367), which edged Whitesburg Christian (372) in a playoff berth for the sub-stateâs second and final state qualifying spot.
The top-two teams and top-two individual golfers not on the roster of a top-two sub-state team advanced to next weekâs Class 1A-2A state tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trailâs Magnolia Grove courses in Mobile.Â

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WAFF) - Easy access to nearby storm shelters is critical for many people who live in mobile homes or simply prefer a secure environment.
The courthouse is one of the main storm shelters in Jackson County, but 5 more will soon be added.
Since 2018, the Jackson County Emergency Management Department has been working to get more community shelters in the county.
EMA Director Paul Smith said his office was able to apply for a federal hazard mitigation grant to outfit existing structures like schools with safe areas.

The Pisgah High School fishing team reeled in a win to start its 2021 season.
The Eagles won the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Associationâs Lake Guntersville Regional Tournament, which was fished out of Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro on Saturday.
Pisgah edged out runner-up East Limestone for the top spot.Â
Pisgah had two boats place in the Top 10 and four in the Top 25. Brantley Barrentine and Dallon Phillips teamed up for a fourth-place finish with five fishing weighing 15.84 pounds while Madelyn Griffith and Cape Duncan teamed up for a seventh-place finish with four fish weighing 12.24 points. John Osborne and Creed Stewart finished 17th with three fish weighing 8.47 pounds and Tykobi Hutchins and Haven Moore were 24th with three fish weight 6.79 pounds while Dawson Campbell and Shelbey Campbell were 112th with one fish weighing 1.44. pounds.
