Elizabethtown, Northwest Regional police to receive grants for body cameras

Two Lancaster County police departments are in line to receive grants to pay to equip their officers with body worn cameras. Elizabethtown Borough Police Department and Northwest Regional Police have both been approved for grants from the Pennsylvania Commission of Crime and Delinquency. Elizabethtown police will receive a $16,525 grant, while Northwest Regional police will receive $10,955. The departments are required to match the grant amounts to fully fund the purchase of the cameras. Acceptance of the grants requires approval from Lancaster County’s commissioners, who are expected to sign off at Wednesday’s meeting. Dale Brubaker, grant specialist with the Lancaster County district attorney’s office, said that after being approached by one of the departments for help in applying for the grant, the county opened up the application and invited other departments to join. He said two other departments expressed interest but did not provide the required information

Lehigh County woman drugged, sexually assaulted juvenile in Warwick Township: police

A Lehigh County woman drugged an underage girl and forced her to perform sexual acts, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional police. Treasure R. Marshall, 19, of Allentown, was charged with two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor. Those charges stem from a series of assaults that took place at a Warwick Township residence in May 2020, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The then-13-year-old girl told investigators she had slept at Marshall’s residence for several nights, during which she was subjected to sexual assaults, police said.

Penn Township man turns self in, charged with sexually assaulting 11-year-old: police

A Penn Township man turned himself in to police after calling an 11-year-old s father to say that he “molested” the man’s child, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police.  Joseph Stephen Ports, 35, was charged with five felonies related to child sexual assault, according to police.   Ports turned himself in by calling Lancaster County-Wide Communications on June 1, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Ports told the operator that he “needed to turn himself in” for assaulting an 11-year-old.   One day earlier, the child’s parents reported Ports to police, telling officers that he had called the 11-year-old s father and said he “molested” the child, but wouldn’t go into detail, according to the affidavit.

DISTURBANCE WARWICK TWP.: Four juvenile boys were seen ringing doorbells and then fleeing before residents could answer the door on Brookview Drive at 11:04 p.m. on May 27, police said. Officers found the boys and told them to go home, police said. WARWICK TWP.: A woman was reported to be uncooperative and recording security in the emergency room of UPMC Lititz at 1500 Highlands Drive at 2:40 p.m. on May 28, police said. The woman, who refused to provide her information, told officers that hospital staff and security were disrespectful to her and her brother, who was being treated in the emergency room, police said. The woman and her brother left the hospital without further incident, police said.
