The City of Melfort held their regular council meeting on Monday discussing a number of topics from vaccine clinics in Melfort, to drug houses, and an addition to some budget deliberations.

The Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort has been approved as a site for mass vaccine clinics ran by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The City of Melfort and the SHA have entered an agreement that begins on March 15, and runs until June 30, or longer if needed. Mayor Glenn George said while a pandemic wasn’t seen coming, things like this are what the KVC was built for.

The February break will look a bit different this year, but the City of Melfort is offering many COVID-19 and family-friendly activities.
The Play Melfort staycation destination is at the Kerry Vickar Centre (KVC) with gym rentals, two island photo ops, arts, and more.
Recreation Programmer Shannon Marshall said the Northern Lights Palace is the place to be at the end of the week, with a glow skate taking place on Friday.
“Admission is by donation to KidSport, we have four skating spots open between 5 and 9 p.m.,” Marshall said.
Initially, there were just two glow skate time slots but those filled rather quickly according to Marshall so they added two more.
Ice will remain in Melfort’s Northern Lights Palace for the time being.
Originally, council was set to vote on Monday, Feb. 1 at their regular meeting whether to remove the ice beginning on Feb. 15. However, there was a delegation from the Melfort Mustangs as they were asking for council to hold off on voting to remove the ice.
The team is hoping to bring back some players to begin practicing in hopes of a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season.
As a result, council did not vote on keeping the ice in or removing it at Monday’s meeting and Facilities Manager Leonard Whitney told
