Isolation No Longer Mandatory For Positive COVID Cases Starting in Mid-August

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Wednesday they’re adapting the measures to match those in place for influenza and other viruses. Starting on Thursday, close contacts will be recommended to isolate, however, it won’t be mandatory. Only those who test positive will be contacted, while contact tracers will only investigate cases in high-risk locations such as continuing care facilities and crowded indoor spaces.

No Bed Closures At Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, Many Hospitals Across Province Experiencing Staffing Issues

Multiple hospitals across Alberta, including in Edmonton, Red Deer, and Grande Prairie, have had to close off a number of beds due to staffing issues Several other smaller communities have also seen closures at different health centres. In an email sent to Mix News, Spokesperson for Alberta Health Services Logan Clow says the NLRHC isn’t experiencing any staff shortages with all beds currently open to help residents in need. Despite closures across the province, AHS says everyone who needs help will receive it.

RMWB s Active COVID Case Total Drops Under 10 For First Time In Nearly A Year

According to the province, there are currently eight cases in Fort McMurray and one in the rural areas. The last time the region was under 10 cases was August 20, 2020. In just two months, Fort McMurray has gone from the being the worst in Alberta, and possibly Canada, in terms of spread of the virus to on-par with most of the province. Currently, the community is averaging just over 10 cases per 100,000 people.
