THUNDER BAY - Crossing guard service will not be supplied on Wednesday morning because of cold temperatures.
The City of Thunder Bay, which operates the program, made the decision to cancel the morning service, with Environment Canada reporting temperatures of slightly below -33 C.
The service is expected to return in the afternoon and parents are advised to ensure students can get to school safely without crossing guards on duty.
School buses are running as usual, though Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay have said some cold-temperatures delays could occur.
In the region, the Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium says it has cancelled all bus service for students, affecting a number of communities including Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Kenora.

All bus routes in Kenora and Dryden have been cancelled for Thursday, along with Upsala UP82 (Upsala to Ignace) and Red Lake RL1 (service south of Ear Fall from Perrault Falls).
They tell us that all other buses will run as usual and that all schools remain open.
The snowfall that caused the cancellations is expected to continue throughout the morning on Thursday.
