All the debate stemmed from the policy itself, the rest of which was approved by council Wednesday night. It was developed to help improve city facilities and decide what sort of companies can and cannot advertise. Reporter Alec Salloum looks at what else is part of that policy.
Q Why was this policy brought in?
A Back in November 2019 Regina’s city council sought to create and formalize a policy where one did not previously exist. There are already a number of third-party advertisers that the city has partnered with but this outlines the city’s policy in a more structured manner. Corey Nyhagen, manager of sponsorships and naming rights and advertising with the city, said a lot of the ad work the city sought was done in an ad hoc manner, and this policy allowed for a more consistent and concrete approach.
