ONE INJURED IN FOUR-VEHICLE CRASH IN JOSHUA TREE

One person received minor injuries in a four-vehicle crash in Joshua Tree Wednesday morning. According to the California Highway Patrol, Joseph McCloskey Jr., 42, of Twentynine Palms, was driving westbound on Highway 62 about 11:49 when he ran the red light at Park Boulevard and the highway. His 2013 Nissan Altima struck a 2016 Kia, driven by Farah Korhonen, 19, of Joshua Tree, who was driving southbound on Park Boulevard. Inside Korhonen’s vehicle was a 1-year-old child, also of Joshua Tree. McCloskey’s Nissan glanced off the Kia and continued westbound, and struck two vehicles that were stopped eastbound at the traffic light. One vehicle was a 2019 Subaru Cross Trek, driven by Carrie Baldwin, 38, of San Dimas; the other vehicle was a 2010 Toyota Camry, driven by Michael Badalian, 41, of Twentynine Palms. 7-year-old boy dies in a house fire in Joshua Tree; 8-year-old in critical condition Courtesy of the San Bernardino County Fire Department The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Bombs and Arson Division is investigating a fire that took the life of a seven-year-old boy Thursday afternoon in Joshua Tree. The fire was reported on Thursday at 11:56 a.m. on the 62200 block of Crestview Drive. Fire crews reported arrived heavy smoke and fire showing from multiple sides of the single-story home when they first arrived on scene. Fire crews were called to the 62300 block of Crestview Drive at 11:56 a.m. with a report that two children–a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl–were trapped inside the home. County Fire Assistant Chief Scott Tuttle said the victims, which included two women–33 years old and 67 years old–who were in the house when the fire broke out, were taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. From the hospital, helicopters transferred the pediatric patients to other area hospitals for further care, where the boy died.
