Cassidy Taylor photo One child has died and another is in serious condition following a house fire in Joshua Tree Thursday morning. Fire crews were called to the 62300 block of Crestview Drive at 11:56 a.m. with a report that two children–a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl–were trapped inside the home. County Fire Assistant Chief Scott Tuttle said the victims, which included two women–33 years old and 67 years old–who were in the house when the fire broke out, were taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center. From the hospital, helicopters transferred the pediatric patients to other area hospitals for further care, where the boy died. In our series of our top stories of four part-series of the top stories of 2020 is the arrest of Nicole Packer, 35, of Morongo Valley, who was arrested nearly 18 months after a crash that killed two teenagers. Prosecutors say that Packer was driving under the influence and at a high rate of speed when her 2018 white Ford Fiesta crashed into a Toyota Prius just west of Rosella Drive on Highway 62 on June 12, 2019. Hart Campbell, 14, and Ruby Campbell,17, both of Los Angeles, died at local hospitals a few hours later. Packer was arrested December 2 and charged with two counts of murder, DUI causing injury, driving with a suspended license, and speeding while DUI. Santa takes part in Christmas Eve flyover for local hospitals Santa Claus traded in his reindeer for a helicopter to join the Palm Springs Air Museum s flyover for valley hospitals. The Christmas Eve flyover was organized to recognize the vital work our medical workers are providing at this critical time. Our medical workers are serving on the front line of this battle with Covid19. The Palm Springs Air Museum and Santa want to do everything possible to bring whatever holiday cheer we can to them, to help boost their spirits. It’s the least we can do to thank them, we are truly grateful, says Palm Springs Air Museum Vice Chairman of the Board Fred BelGazelle SA 341 Scout Helicopter.

MAN INJURED WHEN HIT BY A JEEP IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

A man was injured when he was hit by a Jeep in Twentynine Palms Tuesday afternoon. According to a Sheriff’s report, the unidentified man was in front of Starbucks at the corner of Highway 62 and Adobe Road when he was hit by the vehicle. The driver stayed at the scene and blocked the traffic lane to prevent other vehicles from hitting the man again. The man was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Hi-Desert Medical Center as a precaution. Share this:
