Honeywell reached a $13 million settlement with the US Department of State over alleged violations of the Arms Export Control Act and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (better known as ITAR).
Honeywell agreed to the settlement on 3 May. The State Department has agreed to suspend $5 million of the penalty on the condition that the funds will be used for “remedial compliance measures to strengthen Honeywell’s compliance program”, it says.

The penalty comes after the company repeatedly, between 2011 and 2018, sent drawings of parts of US military aircraft to suppliers in foreign countries, including China, asking for price quotes, according to a US State Department charging letter. The manufacturer voluntarily disclosed the violations.

The first Shanghai International Commercial Aerospace Exhibition will be held in the East China municipality in September, the organizing committee said last week.
It will be held from Sept 15 to 19 at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and biennially thereafter, the committee said in a statement issued on Thursday.
The exhibition will feature an aeroengine forum, a superalloy industry summit, a commercial aircraft conference, a commercial aerospace financial and technological symposium and a business-matching workshop for small aerospace enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta. Educational activities will be arranged for the public to promote aviation and space knowledge, the statement said.

Construction of the CR929, a wide-body commercial jet being developed by Russia and China, is expected to start this year, while the C919, a narrow-body aircraft, will be ready for deliveries, according to officials from Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, which is making both the planes.
Speaking on the sidelines of the annual session of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People s Political Consultative Conference, Yang Zhigang, chief technology officer for R&D at COMAC, said the company will soon freeze the aircraft design, which means no further changes would be made afterward, including the actual shape, size, structural materials, systems and key system
