FG will introduce measures to check environmental pollution, says minister

JCI flags off Green City Project in Ibadan

Share As part of its community development efforts, the global organisation of young active citizens with presence in over 100 countries, flagged off a Green City Project aimed at combating climate change. The tree-planting campaign, led by Adéọlá Adelabu, the JCI Ibadan chapter president, was launched at Mount Olivet Secondary School and Bishop Onabanjo school, both located in the Bodija-Ashi area of Ibadan. Members of JCI Ibadan were joined by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths and Sports, Hon Kazeem Bolarinwa and Dr (Mrs) Amadi who represented the Director-General of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN). Prior to planting the trees, students and staff of the schools were given a short orientation of the importance of trees to the environment and the need to sustain such, with the students expressing commitment to tendering the trees till they mature. Each tree was named after the particular students.

The kidnappers had threatened yesterday to eliminate the remaining 17 of the students in their custody should their parents fail to pay them N100 million ransom, in addition to 10 motorcycles.

Bandits Invade Plateau School, Abduct Student

John Shiklam in Kaduna and Seriki Adinoyi in Jos The Plateau State Police Command yesterday confirmed the abduction of a student pastor at the King’s School, run by the Calvary International Ministry, also known as CAPRO, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state. Also, after fruitless efforts to secure the release of the 29 remaining abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Kaduna, the parents of the abductees have threatened to take their protest to the National Assembly. The Plateau school is a few kilometres from the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang in the same local government area.
