A Talos missile was moved from the South Bend International Airport to The History Museum on Wednesday for an exhibit that is opening on June 19.
Crews took down the missile from the airport, where it had been suspended above the atrium, and loaded it onto a flatbed truck, which slowly made its way to the museum for its temporary new home.
The 30-foot Cold War-era missiles were built at Bendix Missile Plant on Beiger Street in Mishawaka from the mid-1950s through the late-1970s.
The missile will be part of the “Manufacturing Victory” exhibit, a program that will be on display at both The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum a first-time-ever, campus-wide exhibit.
