HBCU Game Day reported that this marked the ninth time since 2000 that no players from a Black institution ended up drafted. Some recent drafts include: In the 2020 NFL Draft, LaChavious Simmons of Tennessee State University reportedly was the only HBCU player drafted that year. In 2019, Tytus Howard became the first Alabama State University player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Sanders, the head football coach at HBCU Jackson State University in Mississippi, took to his Instagram page where he aired out his grievances.

Just weeks after news came that Master P’s son Hercy Miller would be attending a Historically Black College and University, the son of another prominent Black celebrity has announced plans for a similar move as part of his athletic path.
Shaqir O’Neal, the youngest son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, announced on his Instagram page Friday, April 30, that he will be attending Texas Southern University.
TSU is located in Houston, Texas, and is one of the largest HBCUs in the nation. It enrolls over 10,000 students annually, offering over 100 academic programs. Founded in 1947, the university became the first state-supported institution in Houston. Some of its most notable alumni include former NFL star Michael Strahan and gospel singer Yolanda Adams.

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) Morgan State University, Maryland’s largest Historically Black College or University, is seeing an increase in undergraduate, graduate school and housing applications for the 2021 Fall semester.
As of April, the university has received more than 14,600 undergraduate applications, an all-time high for the HBCU and a 58.5% increase over the total number received in 2019, before the pandemic.
The university has also received more than 1,000 graduate school applications, an increase of 9.6% over the total received in 2019, and nearly 1,200 applications for housing, an increase of 54.6% over 2019’s total.

GREENSBORO, N.C. North Carolina A&T State University has more than 180 million dollars over the last five years.
It s a record setting mark for money raised for a public Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
At the beginning of 2015 North Carolina A&T had a goal to raise 85 million dollars by the end of 2020.
That goal was met by the end of 2019.So the university set a stretch goal of 100 million by Dec 31 2020.
And they blew that goal out of the water as well. The Aggies have raised 181.4 million dollars.
