Bank of America Awards Los Angeles Trade Tech $1 Million for Jobs Initiative

$25 Million National Program Supports Programming, Re-skilling and Upskilling for Students of Color; Includes Partnerships with Major Employers and The Aspen Institute.
Los Angeles Trade Tech and Bank of America today announced a new $1 million jobs initiative partnership to help students of color successfully complete the education and training necessary to enter the workforce and embark on a path to success in Southern California. The bank is also investing $1 million into Riverside City College as part of this initiative, which builds on Bank of America’s ongoing work in the region to address the underlying issues facing individuals and communities of color who have been disproportionately impacted by the current health crisis.

Alabama State University continues to fight the spread of COVID-19, and now a contribution of 74 hand sanitizer stations and refills will help combat the virus throughout the campus.
Regions Bank generously provided the hand sanitizer stations, valued at $55,500. Regions is headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., but has branches and offices across Montgomery and the River Region.
“Regions has been a longtime community partner of ASU. They have always ensured that no matter what Hornet Nation continues to thrive. During the pandemic, Regions’ support has not wavered. Their contribution of the hand sanitizing stations is just one of the ways they have shown they are committed to helping us ‘Protect the Nest.’ We are grateful for their partnership,” said Jennifer Anderson, executive director of the ASU Foundation/Institutional Advancement Initiatives.

Washington, DC The National Endowment for the Arts is pleased to announce the first round of recommended awards for fiscal year 2021 totaling $27,562,040. Carnegie Corporation of New York organized its first staff trip to East and South Africa in 1927, visiting 124 educational institutions in all. Corporation president Frederick Keppel and his team were “continually drawing attention to the pitifully unsuitable textual and illustrative content of the primers and educational posters used little English boys in straw hats, sailing little boats at the seaside.” Keppel was moved to make a $5,000 grant to support the publication of more suitable teaching materials.
