RCMP Investigate Potential Death At Timber Bay Children s Home In 1974

By Carol Thomson Jul 28, 2021 | 5:39 PM The Saskatchewan RCMP Historical Case Unit is investigating the circumstances around a death that may have occurred at the Timber Bay Children’s Home in 1974. The residential school was located in the northern community of Timber Bay on the east side of Montreal Lake. In a news release the RCMP says the complaint was reported by an individual in October of last year. With the easing of pandemic restrictions, members of the Historical Case Unit obtained their first recorded statement on July 8th. No charges have been laid because the investigation is in its early stages. Superintendent Vince Foy, Officer in Charge of the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit, says he can’t imagine how difficult it must be for someone to come forward and speak with police after so much time has passed.
