SINGAPORE: Twenty-one COVID-19 community cases were reported in Singapore as of noon on Monday (May 17), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
Ten cases were linked to previous infections, while 11 had no links to other cases. Six of the 21 cases had been placed on quarantine earlier, said the ministry.

There were also seven imported cases, who had already been placed on stay-home notice upon their arrival in Singapore.
Most of us in Singapore would have grown quite accustomed to receiving helpful twice-daily updates from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Besides the daily numbers, another detail that is closely watched is the list of locations visited by confirmed Covid-19 cases, in the 14-day window before they tested positive for the infection.
Some may have noticed that MOH appends a note about the locations each day: There is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been.
Certain places visited by Covid-19 cases have been singled out
It might, therefore, seem like a contradiction that there are some public places that were closed to the public after being visited by Covid-19 cases.
With effect from January 1 2023, the OVR regime will be expanded to include remote services
One aspect of the recent changes made to the goods and services tax (GST) regime in Singapore is to bring about a certain level of parity in the GST treatment for goods and services consumed in Singapore regardless of where the goods and services are procured from.
This is to create a level playing field between overseas suppliers and local GST-registered businesses amidst the e-commerce boom and the growing trend of businesses being able to digitalise to deliver services remotely. It is also in line with the OECD’s recommendations in BEPS Action 1 which identified the collection of VAT/GST on online business-to-consumer (B2C) sales as a way to address the tax challenges of the digital economy.

Lunchtime crowds still thronged two popular malls in Novena yesterday despite the Covid-19 cluster linked to the nearby Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), but businesses said footfall has been impacted.
Diners and shoppers at Velocity and Square 2 that The Straits Times spoke to said they were not overly concerned about the TTSH cluster, as they had faith the authorities were handling the situation.
