Amid rising attacks from the BJP and pressure from its ruling partners, the NCP and the Congress, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government on Wednesday, in a major reshuffle, shunted out Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, replacing him with Hemant Nagrale, who was the acting director general of police (DGP). Singh will now be director of the low-profile Home Guards.
Singhâs transfer came days after the state government faced a fusillade for its mishandling of the Antilla bomb scare case and also for shielding the controversial police officer Sachin Vaze, who has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the matter.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Monday said that a huge amount of Rs 29,290 crore in GST compensation remains unpaid to Maharashtra out of a total of Rs 46,950 crore.
The Governor said of the total amount, the Centre has cleared only Rs 6,140-crore and another Rs 11,520 crore was given as loan till February 2021 to the state government.

Mumbai, March 1 : Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said on Monday that a huge amount of Rs 29,290 crore in GST compensation remains unpaid to Maharashtra out of a total of Rs 46,950 crore.
The Governor said that of the total amount, the Centre has cleared only Rs 6,140 crore while another Rs 11,520 crore was given to the state government as loan till February 2021.
Accordingly, a compensation of Rs 29,290 crore is overdue from the Centre to the state, said Koshyari, addressing the joint sitting of the state legislators on the opening day of the Budget session of Maharashtra Legislature.
