IN YUCCA VALLEY, MEASURE Y FUNDS ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY

Merl Abel, Mayor, and Curtis Yakimow, Town Manager, both of Yucca Valley, were the guests on the Up-Close Show last Friday (June 4). Of the many topics discussed, both Abel and Yakimow stressed how important public safety is to the Town of Yucca Valley and how Measure Y funds helped make public safety advancements possible. Cassidy Taylor has the recap… Measure Y passed in 2016 with overwhelming support from Yucca Valley residents, allowing a half-cent sales tax in the town that funds town essential services such as public safety and road repair. Both Mayor Abel and Town Manager Yakimow praised the measure on the Up-Close Show.

YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL MEETS: UPDATES, CONTRACTS, COMMISSION CHANGES

Tonight’s meeting takes place at 6 p.m., and will begin with three presentations. The first will be an update from CalTrans on the reconstruction of Highway 62, followed by a San Bernardino Fire Area Incident Report from Assistant Chief Scott Tuttle. The final guest presentation will be from Astrid Johnson, the president of Morongo Basin ARCH, a non-profit designed to combat homelessness. The council will then award two engineering contracts to Engineering Resources of Southern California Inc. and the KOA Corporation for work to be done on North Park improvements and the Little League Drive project respectively. Finally, the meeting will conclude with the acceptance of the resignations of  Paul Hoffman and Joanne Keiter and the re-appointments of Lori Herbel and George Huntington to the Revenue Measure Oversight Commission.
