City Planning Commission Certifies Massive 960 Franklin Rezoning, Despite Opposition From BBG and Mayor

The City Planning Commission (CPC) voted on Monday to certify a controversial Crown Heights rezoning proposal at 960 Franklin Avenue, the Old Spice Factory, allowing the proposal to proceed through the city’s uniform land use review process (ULURP). The ULURP process requires the approval of Mayor Bill de Blasio, who announced his opposition to the project last month, almost certainly dooming it. The CPC’s certification was expected, and was given based on the proposal’s completion, not its content. Nevertheless, the certification gives Ian Bruce Eichner of the Continuum Company, the project’s lead developer, the opportunity to make his case before the City Council and local community members.

January 28, 2021 STB Extends Uinta Basin Railway DEIS Comment Period Written by Marybeth Luczak, Executive Editor The STB’s Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA) issued the Draft EIS for the proposed Uinta Basin Railway in late October 2020. The Surface Transportation Board (STB) is extending until Feb. 12 the comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed 85-mile Uinta Basin Railway in Utah. Eagle County, Colo., requested the extension on Jan. 25 due to concerns about the Tennessee Pass Line in Colorado. Jan 28, 2021 A new earthquake-ready Burnside Bridge will look dramatically different than today’s 94-year-old bridge. The public is invited to learn about bridge types being considered for the new bridge and share their views at an online open house through Sunday, February 21. A new Long Span bridge has been recommended as the preferred alternative by the project’s Community Task Force. The preferred alternative was supported by 88% of the public who took a survey in 2020. The Task Force recently recommended a range of bridge types be evaluated before one is recommended this spring. Bridge types need to be selected for the center movable span and the adjoining approach spans that will touch down on the east and west sides of the Willamette River:
