The U.S. Forest Service is sticking with its plan to harvest timber and burn several thousand acres near the Pedlar River in the George Washington Forest, though it did remove 195 acres from proposed timber cuts.
Lauren Stull, district ranger for the Glenwood & Pedlar District of the GW Forest, who wrote the Forest Service Draft Decision Notice for the Pedlar River North Vegetation Project, said harvest acres decreased from 753 to 558.
Twelve areas were removed to mitigate impacts to old growth forests, heritage resources, visual resources (including the Appalachian Trail) and riparian corridors, she wrote in the final draft plan. Those revisions were made based on field surveys and analysis, as well as public comment.
Public invited to comment on proposed Gap Wash right-of-way amendment
ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) St. George Field Office is analyzing a proposed right-of-way amendment from the City of St. George to add additional water storage and water transmission pipelines in the Gap Wash area. The BLM prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment for the City of St. George Gap Wash Right-of-Way Amendment that is available for a 30-day public review and comment period at https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/1503130/510.
The proposal would amend the city’s current 50-foot right-of-way to add two buried pipelines and construct a two-million-gallon water storage tank on the pad adjacent to the existing tank. The proposal is completely within the established right-of-way.

Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Council on Environmental Quality NEPA Regulations (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 40, Parts 1500-1508), the Department of Defense, Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) has issued a Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) for the construction of the Pentagon Remote Delivery Facility (RDF) Roof Structural Strengthening Project.
To meet the needs of the military branches that operate flights at the Pentagon, the RDF Roof must support certain helicopter vehicle weights under both landing and operation conditions. The Project would enhance the structural integrity of the RDF Roof and convert the Pentagon Heliport (located on the RDF Roof) into a permanent facility that sustains the safe operations of aircraft.
