Bennington College recently announced its newest trustee, Odili Donald Odita (MFA ‘90).
Odita was born in Enugu, Nigeria and lives and works in Philadelphia. He is an abstract painter exploring color both in the figurative historical context and in the sociopolitical sense. In addition to general trustee duties, Odita will serve on Bennington’s education and community life committee.
“I am happy to see the completion of a circle in my invitation to be a member of the Board of Trustees,” said Odita. “It still feels like yesterday that I was able to attend Bennington as a graduate student in painting; to work as a drawing teacher at the Bennington July Program; and later be given the opportunity to speak as a visiting artist. I hope to contribute all and more of what Bennington has given to me over these years.”
Dominion’s Long-Time Chief Tom Farrell Dies
Dominion Energy Inc. Executive Chairman Thomas F. Farrell II, 66, died on Friday after battling cancer.
Tom, as he was known to family, friends and employees, was chairman, president and CEO of Dominion from 2007-2020. He had joined the Richmond, VA-based company in 1995 as general counsel after serving in private practice for 15 years.
Farrell was tapped as president and COO of Dominion in 2004. In 2006, he became CEO, and one year later, the board elected him chairman.
Farrell had served as executive chairman until last Thursday, when he retired.
“Tom was a peerless mentor and outstanding leader who sought to find innovative solutions to challenges at Dominion Energy, in the utility industry and in the community he called home,” said CEO Robert M. Probably best known for the exquisite Easter eggs that he crafted for the Russian Imperial house of Romanov, Peter Carl Fabergé was Russia’s premier master goldsmith at the beginning of the twentieth century, the House of Fabergé having been founded in St. Petersburg by his father, Gustav Fabergé in 1842. Although Fabergé would go on to design spectacular objects of ornamentation such as jewellery, jewelled flowers, enamel boxes and photograph frames, walking sticks, clocks and even a collection of animals, his Easter eggs are extraordinary creations of beauty which continue to fascinate.
