Suspect in custody after man found dead inside Virginia Beach home; police investigating as homicide

Thursday night, police identified the victim as 58-year-old Daoud Bilal
of Virginia Beach.
During the preliminary investigationâ, detectives said they found evidence that led them to identifying a potential suspect. Detectives obtained and served a search warrant in Norfolk, which led to more evidence being recovered and the suspect being taken into custody Thursday night.
Authorities announced 45-year-old Matthew Gene Hoaglund of Norfolk was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail.
