VCUarts Qatar student’s artworks selected into ‘100/100 Hundred Best Arabic Posters league

A Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) – a Qatar Foundation partner university – graphic design student’s artworks have been recognized by the 100/100 Hundred Best Arabic Posters competition, held by the German University in Cairo.
Shima Aeinehdar’s posters, titled ‘Khaneh’ and ‘Omid’, were chosen from posters submitted from across the world, to be included in the list of the top 100 Arabic posters.
“As a growing designer and artist, it is very exciting for me to have my work recognized internationally by globally renowned Arabic type designers who were on the jury,” Aeinehdar said.

Lebanese artist, film producer Akram Zaatari to present next Wavelength talk

Aspiring visual artists and film makers across Qatar and elsewhere can mark their calendars for an exciting learning experience. Renowned Lebanese artist and film producer Akram Zaatari whom UK’s The Guardian newspaper referred to as “one of the foremost artists still living in the Arab region” will be the next presenter in the Wavelength lectures series, on Tuesday at 8pm Doha time. During the lecture a collaboration between Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), a Qatar Foundation partner university, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University Institute for Contemporary Art Zaatari will discuss his major works of the last 15 years, addressing some of the crucial questions informing his approach to video, photography and the politics of documentary representation.

Doha: Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) has had a tremendous reception to its 2020-21 applications season.
Therefore, they have decided to extend their application deadline to ensure that all students who are keen to study at VCUarts Qatar can have the opportunity to learn more about the innovative Education City-based art and design school.
“The final day for new students to submit an application for admission to VCUarts Qatar is Monday, February 15 for the Fall 2021 semester,” Recruitment and Admissions Director at the University, Katherine Mangum said.
