Three members of the faculty in the University of Wyoming’s College of Business will step into new leadership roles in coming weeks.
Associate Professor Ronn Smith current chair of the Department of Management and Marketing, and interim associate dean of the college will begin service as the college’s senior associate dean starting May 1.
At that time, Associate Professor Andy Arnette will succeed Smith as chair of the Department of Management and Marketing.
And Associate Professor Mitch Oler, the Lenhart, Mason & Associates Fellow in the Department of Accounting and Finance, will chair that department starting July 1.
A Colorado Springs-based team of gifted middle- and high-school students recently defeated dozens of competitors to win a statewide science competition.
Homeschool Science Colorado, which is comprised entirely of homeschool students, won both the high school and middle school divisions of the state’s Science Olympiad tournament. It was the first victory in either division for a Colorado Springs-based team since 2011, when Cheyenne Mountain High School took the state title.
Established in 1984, the Science Olympiad applies science-based principles and techniques to competitive events.
It is not a science fair. It’s more of an Olympics of the mind, in which critical thinking and problem solving take the place of running, jumping and throwing.

A familiar and deadly problem has returned across the United States with a vengeance. What happened in Indianapolis Thursday was only the latest in a string of gun violence incidents. They’ve grabbed headlines over the past month, alongside the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
Tonight, many Americans may be wondering when our flags won’t be at half staff to mourn the victims of mass shootings. There have been at least 45 mass shootings in the United States, in the month since eight people were killed at Atlanta area spas. There have been at least 147 mass shootings in the US, just in 2021, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
