The Progress-Index
PETERSBURG – Petersburg is well on its way to becoming the cradle of the U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, but there is still work to be done.
Now that drug-makers Phlow Corp., and CivicaRx have chosen Normandy Drive as their long-term home, land upgrades and financing have to be finished to get the 44.1 acre parcel up and running before the end of 2022.
Phlow received a $354 million grant from the federal government in May last year to build a new stockpile of U.S.-based active pharmaceutical ingredients and “onshore” the industry from countries that are currently producing 80% of those materials. Then in January this year, CivicaRx announced its plans to join Phlow in Petersburg, including a pledge of a $124 million investment. The two companies will work alongside the AMPAC Fine Chemicals facility next door.
