On Thursday, Gov. Northam said the Commonwealth would end mediation measures, social distancing requirements and capacity limits on June 15 if COVID-19 metrics continue to look favorable. Restaurants, theaters, gyms and everywhere else could fully reopen without socially distancing before summer. Northam reiterated COVID-19 restrictions that are changing on May 15. On April 22 Northam announced these changes which would go into effect May 15. Those changes were to social gathering limits increasing to 100 people, for indoor settings and 250 for outdoor and allowed for entertainment and sporting venues to increase capacity limits. Fifty-five additional COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Virginia hospitals in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA). The VHHA reports a total of 54,937 hospitalized COVID-19 patients have been discharged, an increase from 54,882 (+55) patients since Wednesday s update. Hospitalizations have decreased in Virginia over the last 24 hours. There are currently 847 patients in hospitals who are either positive or whose test results are pending, down from 896 (-49) Wednesday, according to the VHHA. Officials said 702 (-12) of those patients have COVID-19 while 145 (+31) have tests pending.
