Delia Weaver Hoeffel, 71, of Rockbridge Baths passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, April 2, 2021.
Delia was born on June 20, 1949, in Warrenton to William “Bill” B. Weaver Jr. and Barbour “Peggy” Johnson Weaver.
She was a proud member of the Colonial Dames of America, women who are descended from an ancestor who lived in early British America and served the colonies. Delia attended Radford University, where she studied visual arts. On October 22, 1983, she married Kenneth Mortimer Hoeffel Jr. They moved to Rockbridge County in 1991 and raised a daughter, Delia Teel Hoeffel.

It s important to run these races, so that we can continue to help out the equine industry and provide some income. So many jockeys, trainers and industry employees are dependent on these races. Virginia Gold Cup Association Chairman Will Allison Fauquierâs largest spectator event, the Virginia Gold Cup Races will take place under modified conditions in May.
Traditionally run the first Saturday in May, the races will move to May 29, with a dramatically-reduced in-person audience because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly $300,000 in bonus monies was awarded to owners of Virginia-bred and -sired horses in 2020 courtesy of the Virginia Thoroughbred Association s (VTA) Mid-Atlantic Incentive program. A total of 57 owners, whose horses won at tracks in the Mid-Atlantic region, shared $299,574.75.
The initiative is just one of three offered annually by the VTA. Almost $1.8 million was awarded in the popular Certified Residency program while another $1 million was doled out to breeders in the Commonwealth via the Virginia Breeders Fund program.
