ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports to the European Union (EU) grew by over 17 per cent in the first ten months of the current financial year, largely due to the Generalised System of Preferences-Plus (GSP+) scheme.
According to data compiled by the ministry of commerce, export proceeds to the EU’s 27 member countries amounted to $7.474 billion during the July-April period against $6.367bn over the same period of the previous financial year.
Exports posted a paltry growth in terms of euros. The EU calculates trade figures on the basis of a calendar year January to December.

The National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) on Monday observed that major driver behind increase in prices of items of daily use was massive international price hike due to ongoing COVID-19 crisis, according to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry.
The committee meeting was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin. Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam; Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood; Special Assistant on Finance and Revenue Dr Waqar Masood, secretaries, chief secretaries, and senior officers of various ministries participated in the meeting.
