The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday, urged Nigerian workers under the aegis of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) rally the support of their respective lawmakers with a view to kill the controversial bill which seeks to remove the Minimum Wage from the Exclusive Legislative List to Concurrent Legislative List.
The Speaker who spoke through the Majority Leader, Hon Ado Doguwa, during the peaceful protest held by the organised labour, also demanded the reversal of the recent hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and electricity tariff.
Workers on the platform of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), have declared that any attempt to remove the minimum wage from the exclusive list is an attempt to enslave Nigerian workers.
The workers made this disclosure when they protested against the removal of minimum wage from the exclusive list.
The workers who protested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Wednesday advised the Oyo State House of Assembly not to be part of the Bill that would return Nigerians workers into slavery.
The unionists noted that the protest was organized to kick against the planned removal of the minimum wage from the exclusive list to the concurrent list.

Workers under the aegis of the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress on Wednesday protested against plans to remove minimum wage from exclusive list.
The proteating workers took their agitations to the Office of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
They blocked the entrance to the governor’s office, halting activities at the seat of power in Lagos.
Due to the demonstration, there is gridlock around Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Allen Junction, Ogba, and Agindingbi among others.
Recall that a bill seeking to remove the negotiation on minimum wage from the exclusive list to the concurrent list passed the second reading in the House of Representatives on February 23.
The Ondo State House of Assembly has vowed that it would reject the proposed bill seeking the removal of minimum wage from the exclusive legislative list.
