A SMILING drug dealer who peddled cocaine in Worcester cried in court but was grinning moments after he walked free, chatting away happily on his mobile phone. Shah Haque was spotted by the judge crying in the dock when he learned he had escaped an immediate prison sentence at Worcester Crown Court on Monday despite dealing cannabis and cocaine in the city. However, he did not look like he had a care in the world as he strolled along Foregate Street with a friend after being granted his liberty. After the sentence Judge James Burbidge QC asked the defendant, who was in the dock, if he had hayfever and told him his tears would not be out of relief next time as Haque would be going down the stairs to the cells, telling him: You ve let yourself down.
A DRUGS courier who trashed his rented house to make way for a DIY cannabis farm claimed he did it so he did not have to pay dealers for his weed. Michael Vella had previously run up a drugs debt to feed his habit which ended up in him transporting 2kg of amphetamines to pay off what he owed and get things square with his dealers. A DRUGS chauffeur must pay back £8,000 after a conspiracy which resulted in a Worcester police officer being badly injured. More than two years after he was first jailed, former Worcester taxi driver Shakur Hussain had just £8,061confiscated. Appearing at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, Hussain of Compton Road was warned that if does not pay within three months he faces three months in jail in default. After much legal wrangling over several court appearances, the 40-year-old s benefit figure was identified as £10,588. So far only £20 has been seized towards that amount. Prosecutors had initially argued that he benefited from the conspiracy to the tune of £65,066.
A CHURCH leader has set up a tree memorial outside of her house for residents to pay tribute to a woman whose body was found in the river in Worcester. Members of the Tolladine community have been paying tribute to Christina Rowe, whose body was found in the River Severn in Worcester last Thursday, February 11. A man has been charged with her murder. Miss Rowe, who was 28, lived at Cheviot Close in Tolladine, and residents have left flowers, candles and messages at a tree outside of mission house in Tolladine Road. Sue Martyr, who lives at the house, is employed part-time by the Tolladine Mission, which aims to work with the local community and is funded by the diocese of Worcester.
