Andy Roberts has picked up some significant victories in recent elections to Worcestershire County Council, winning by almost 1,000 votes in front of Labour’s Paul Mountain in 2017 and fighting off a UKIP surge in 2013 to bag a 322 vote majority. The city councillor and former mayor has been cabinet member for children and families since 2017 and has overseen the move of children’s services to Worcestershire Children First brought on by an inadequate Ofsted rating.

Families across Worcestershire found out on Friday which primary school their children will be starting at this September. 98% of the county’s newest pupils received an offer from one of their top three choices. Nine out of 10 children will be starting at their first choice of primary school and middle school this September. This year in Worcestershire, the County Council received 6,088 primary school applications, and 2,638 middle school applications. Everyone who made an application for a primary school or middle school place has received an offer.
