WASHINGTON, May 13, 2021 The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced it will purchase up to $159.4 million in domestically produced seafood, fruits, legumes, and nuts for distribution to a variety of domestic food assistance programs, including charitable institutions. These purchases are being made utilizing funds under the authority of Section 32 of the Agricultural Adjustment Act (Pub. L. 74-320), as amended (Section 32). This is one of many actions USDA is taking to address the disruptions in the food system supply chain and worsened food insecurity resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

WASHINGTON, D.C. â Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced Thursday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture will purchase up to $25 million of Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic Wild-Caught Shrimp to address food system supply chain disruptions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a release from Higgins office, the USDA will purchase these products via the Food and Nutrition Service. Orders should be received during the first week of June with solicitations being issued mid-June and awards occurring near the end of the month.

CACI International Inc (NYSE: CACI) announced today that it was awarded a seven-year task order, with a ceiling value of $376 million, to provide mission technology to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to sustain and modernize the department’s Web Based Supply Chain Management (WBSCM) system, which supports domestic and international food and nutrition programs administered by the USDA and USAID.
Under the task order, awarded under the GSA Alliant II contract vehicle, CACI will provide continued sustainment and business process improvements to USDA’s WBSCM system, including a cloud migration, modernization to SAP S/4HANA, and deployment of additional Salesforce capabilities. These improvements will help increase the productivity and lower the sustainment costs of USDA’s food and nutrition assistance programs by modernizing and automating software functions.
