49ers sign former Jaguars WR Marqise Lee Published: May 17, 2021 at 12:31 PM Nick Shook
Marqise Lee s return to the NFL includes a new location: Santa Clara.
The former second-round pick signed with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The Niners later confirmed the acquisition and added that it has waived wideout Austin Proehl in a corresponding move.
Lee last played in 2019, his final season with the Jaguars, in a campaign that was shortened by a shoulder ailment. The USC product was limited to just six games, four targets and three receptions, a meager output that followed a season in which Lee didn t appear in a single game due to a significant knee injury suffered during the 2018 preseason. The combination of a lack of availability and production led to his release in April of 2020.
The Buccaneers are adding to their secondary depth with the signing of free-agent CB Antonio Hamilton on a one-year deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports.
The Packers are adding another quarterback to their roster.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Green Bay is signing Kurt Benkert following a tryout at rookie minicamp. The move comes just three days after the team acquired Blake Bortles. The Packers also worked out Chad Kelly this weekend.
Benkert and Bortles join a QB room that might not be full when the team kicks off OTAs on May 24, as it remains unclear whether Aaron Rodgers will attend. The reigning MVP has been at odds with the front office for much of the offseason amid a contract dispute and purported objection to QB Jordan Love s first-round selection in last year s draft.
Colts LT Eric Fisher won t put timeline on return from torn Achilles Published: May 14, 2021 at 10:45 AM Copied!
The Indianapolis Colts are banking big that Eric Fisher will return from his torn Achilles early in the season.
The newly signed left tackle told reporters Thursday that he wouldn t put a timeline on his recovery, however. What I can tell you is I m a big control what you can control kind of guy, Fisher said via the Indy Star. Obviously, I d like to snap my fingers and have a perfect Achilles again, but you know, that s not the case. Obviously, the club feels good with where I m at, I m feeling good, but any other questions about my Achilles, I ll leave up to Chris Ballard or coach (Frank Reich).
Broncos cut right tackle Ja Wuan James following torn Achilles Published: May 14, 2021 at 06:15 PM Grant Gordon
The Broncos cut James on Friday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
James recently tore his Achilles working out off-site and on Friday tweeted out that he had undergone successful surgery.
James release comes after he was placed on the non-football injury list with the intention being not to pay him the $10.58 million he was due in salary because his injury occurred away from the team facility, Rapoport reported. Expect James camp to fight it, Rapoport added.
It s a tumultuous end to James tenure in Denver in which he played only three games after signing a massive four-year, $51 million deal ahead of the 2019 season.
