New Northeast to play leading role in New India: Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI, Apr 15: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said here today that New Northeast is destined to play a leading role in New India.
Speaking on ‘Sustainable Livelihoods : Investing in Women for a New India” at the 37th Annual Session organised online by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI)-FLO here Dr. Jitendra Singh said, Northeast has had a rich tradition of women entrepreneurship and always took a lead as far as the women Self Help Groups (SHGs) are concerned. He recalled that it was way back in 1950s, only a few years after India’s independence, that the State of Assam had its first ever Mahila Mandal established, which actually paved the way for other States to follow. THENZWAL(MIZORAM): Union minister Jitendra Singh Wednesday said the development of northeastern states is of utmost importance for the Centre.
Addressing a public rally in support of the BJP candidate in the by-election to Mizoram s Serchhip assembly constituency, he said soon after taking over as prime minister, Narendra Modi had pledged that he would give special attention to the eastern regions of the country because they had suffered negligence in the past and without the equitable development of these regions, the overall wholesome growth of India was not possible. Development of the northeastern states is of utmost importance for the Centre. The government is committed to ensure their equitable development, said Singh, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister s Office (PMO).
NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh today launched “75″ series Pension awareness to mark 75 years of India’s independence.
As a part of the “Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate India @75, the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare will organize a wide range of activities, characterized by “75” serial figure.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, it would be a highly innovative and creative method of observing the 75th year of India’s independence by dedicating it to the cause of pensioners and elder citizens. This, he said, would personify the real essence of “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” by addressing the elder citizens through one of the youngest mediums of social platform.
