New Business Attraction Approves Flex PACE Requests

Jamestown Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated some concerns with contributing more money for Flex PACE. After discussion, it was decided that the committee would request another $250,000 for the program, but take a look at the criteria for distributing the funds in the future. That motion was passed. The committee heard a request from Oviatt LLC for funding to build a new events facility for catered events and weddings. Sheldon Oviatt informed the committee of his plans. The requested amount was $85,714.31 and was moved for approval by the committee. Another request was considered by KC Motorsports Inc. for funds to purchase Stutsman Harley Davidson and the property.

12 Applications Approved in JSDC Internship Program

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) had a great response from area businesses in their first internship program. The Internship Reimbursement Program was created as a way to provide employer reimbursement, paid internship opportunity, and more with the overall goal of recruiting and retaining professionals in the area. JSDC Business Development Director Corry Shevlin reported that there were interns being brought from outside of North Dakota to the state, which is what their aim was with the program. Collins Aerospace had the most internship requests with six applications submitted. The program would reimburse up to $3,500 to qualifying businesses to cover expenses for hiring an intern.

Advantage Electric Approved for Flex PACE Funds

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation has approved Flex PACE dollars for Advantage Properties as they work to construct a new building at their current location. JSDC Business Development Director Corry Shevlin says the company oversees Advantage Electric and the group states the project is necessary in order to “grow and expand current business.”

JSDC Committee Discusses Flex PACE Program

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) hopes using the Flex PACE program will continue to attract new business to the area. Business Development Director Corry Shevlin reports that the city and county had both approved the participation in the Flex PACE program, which allows the JSDC to leverage state and local funding for businesses.

JSDC Existing Business Committee Discusses Incentives, Businesses

The committee will continue exploring different incentive programs moving forward. Later, the committee discussed some information concerning possible businesses. This includes a proposed sushi restaurant in the former Rock’s Taphouse building. There’s no word on when this would be open. The Perkins building demolition was being completed by a developer from Bismarck, but there has been nothing concrete or confirmed yet to be built there. Later, JSDC Connie Ova gave information on some wind projects in southern Stutsman County. Shevlin added that they are currently finalizing a presentation for a grant of upwards of $500,000 for the Greenhouse Project at Spiritwood Energy Park. Company X is also progressing conversations for a steam contract with Great River Energy and Ova says they hope to hear more information soon.
