Gulf Winds Cares Foundation awards $20,000 in scholarship funding
Special to Gannett/USA TODAY NETWORK
PENSACOLA The Gulf Winds Cares Foundation provided $20,000 in scholarships to four graduating high school seniors.
Winfred Brittain, Noah Calvery, Jacob Greeson and Emma Ostrom were each awarded $5,000 to further their education at a higher learning institution.
Gulf Winds received 61 applications for the Scholarship Program, designed to support students that are members of Gulf Winds Credit Union in their first year of higher education.
“We had a record number of applicants this year,” said Chris Rutledge, CEO/president of Gulf Winds. “The quality of the applications indicates that our future is bright as the next generation of leaders comes into their own.”
All proceeds will go directly to the operations of NISSI’s first short-term, immediate-care facility in Northwest Florida. In this facility, a survivor will receive health care, survivor advocacy, case management, rest, detox if needed, and assistance in locating the best aftercare or safe house option to meet their immediate needs all while in a safe and peaceful environment.
By attending and supporting, attendees will help provide immediate care for victims who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect. A silent auction will proceed the event, and drinks and appetizers will be served.
