The May long weekend â the unofficial start of summer â doesnât mark the end of COVID-19, according to the medical officer of health with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

No new cases of COVID-19 and five recoveries were added from the District of Parry Sound today(Tuesday) placing the district at 23 active cases.
One case is being treated in hospital and four more previously recorded cases screened positive for the B.1.1.7 variant originally found in the UK.
Three new cases were reported from Nipissing placing that district at seven active cases of the virus.
On the last day, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit administered 845 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The change to a dedicated COVID-19 line was made in an effort to improve the call experience and open phone lines for those trying to reach other departments in the health unit.
Upgrades include no more dropped calls while in the queue and technology enhancements that will inform anticipated wait times, position in the queue and callback functionality.
