One dead, two injured in fiery crash on I-88 in Lisle

Updated 3/4/2021 5:38 PM One person died and two were injured Thursday morning when a semitrailer truck crashed into a stalled SUV on Interstate 88 in Lisle, police said. A 2011 Ford Expedition was heading west just before 10 a.m. when it started experiencing mechanical problems and came to a stop in a traffic lane near Naperville Road, according to Illinois State Police. For unknown reasons, the semi was unable to stop in time and struck the disabled SUV.   Both vehicles became engulfed in flames due to the impact of the rear-end collision, officials said. Fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze while paramedics treated two people who were able to escape before first responders arrived, according to the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District.

Police: Four handguns recovered from Bloomingdale hotel shooting

Updated 2/8/2021 8:06 PM Bloomingdale police recovered four handguns from the frantic scene of a hotel shooting over the weekend that left one person dead and renewed calls to force Indian Lakes out of business. Village trustees on Monday night discussed the procedural requirements needed to revoke operational licenses for the Indian Lakes Hotel in the wake of an altercation that turned violent among members of two groups numbering more than 100.   At least six people were shot, one fatally, police said. No arrests have been made, and no one was in custody Monday, Bloomingdale Public Safety Director Frank Giammarese said. Witnesses and shooting victims are offering little cooperation, police said.
