At least one killed in east Charlotte motorcycle crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - At least one person was killed in a motorcycle crash in east Charlotte Monday morning.
The crash happened on WT Harris Boulevard, closing the road from Wallace Ave to Lawyers Road for a time.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. The road was reopen by 6 a.m.

I had the opportunity to speak at the Mint Hill Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, and I wanted to share some of my remarks.
My platform, as Mayor has always been open communication and transparency. Over the past year, I have provided weekly updates on our website and social media. My door is always open, I host regular office hours, and am available via phone or email.
We have introduced a website that is more user-friendly. We continue to leverage social media and our Board meetings have been virtual since March 2020.
There is a lot of development activity going on in town. Work continues to progress on the Chick-Fil-A which is scheduled to open later this fall. The land on the corner of Fairview and Bain School Road is being cleared for an O’Reilly Auto Parts store. A small business park is being built on Blair Road. Talks continue with a developer for a possible distribution facility at the Clear Creek railroad site as well as a food distribution warehouse in the Clear Creek Business Park.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested an additional suspect for the murder of a man in east Charlotte that happened on Aug. 21, 2020.
A juvenile was charged Feb. 17 for the slaying of 20-year-old Zion Garcia.
Police also arrested Nyla Burnett, 18, Jalen Meggett, 21, and Jahmel Williams, 27, in August.

Officers responded Friday night to Firelight Lane near Albemarle and North Sharon Amity roads after a shots-fired call. Officers did not find anything at the scene, officials said.

Grand Larceny -- Lawyers Road and Church Street, NW, Nov. 21, 12 p.m.
A citizen reported that a check he mailed from the mailbox at Church Street and Lawyers Road was stolen, forged, and cashed.
Grand Larceny -- Whole Foods, 143 Maple Avenue, East, Nov. 21 between 2 and 2:30 p.m. On Dec. 9, a citizen reported that on Nov. 21, her elderly mother’s wallet was stolen while she was shopping at Whole Foods. Her credit card was then used to make unauthorized purchases.
Petit Larceny - 200 Block Lawyers Road, NW, Nov. 22, 4 p.m. A resident reported that a gift card she mailed to a relative from the mailbox at Lawyers Road and Church Street was stolen during recent thefts at that mailbox.
