AN event is set to be music to the ears as people enjoy a gradual easing of lockdown restrictions. Tea on the Square – on Saturday, July 3 – will be Keighley Town Council’s first event of the year. Old-time music will be performed by Melissa Harper and Pete Jones. And performing arts school Bolt Academy, with its choir, will entertain. The free event – at Town Hall Square – will be opened at 1pm by the town mayor, Councillor Julie Adams. Activities will run until 4pm. Tea and cake will be available for a donation to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, Manorlands. Cllr Adams said: “We are truly excited to be hosting Tea on the Square.

Charity says thank-you
The theme of this year’s volunteers’ week (June 1-7) is ‘time to say thanks’ and I’d like to extend my gratitude on behalf of EACH to our dedicated supporters, without whom we couldn’t function.
The last year has been a difficult time, our volunteers have been stood down for many months, but as we emerge from lockdown their support has never been more important.
Understandably some of our volunteers have been unable to return and we’re looking for new people to join us.
