Grand jury impressed by Solano Elections Office during Covid times
FAIRFIELD Despite a series of missteps in election materials and ballot addressing – not all the fault of the Registrar of Voters Office – the 2020-21 Solano County grand jury was generous in its praise of the Elections Office.
“This year’s (state) requirement that ballots be mailed to all voters did not present a challenge for the (Registrar of Voters),” the grand jury report released Wednesday stated.
“The civil grand jury members were impressed with the integrity and attention to detail that the ROV personnel displayed. The ROV staff demonstrated high regard for transparency, the individual’s right to vote, and the accuracy of the process,” the report stated.
Letter to the Editor: Vacaville City Council needs Ritchie
It is my pleasure to write a personal letter to the editor supporting Greg Ritchie for Vacaville City Council District 2.
I have known Greg for the past 27 years through his and his family’s volunteer efforts at the Vacaville Veterans Memorial Building. I have found Greg to be one of the most compassionate and caring men that I have ever met. On numerous occasions, I have witnessed his positive interactions with veterans, family members, seniors, disabled and the homeless while volunteering at the free Community Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve Dinner at the Veterans Memorial Building.
Resident raises more questions about Vacaville elections
FAIRFIELD A former candidate for the Vacaville City Council said the District 5 results could be in question due to how ballots were distributed for the Nov. 3 election.
Amber Robitaille, who ran for the District 3 seat, told Solano County supervisors Tuesday that she believes as many as 78 voters received the wrong ballots, which could affect an outcome in which the two candidates were separated by 73 votes.
Jason Roberts defeated Sherie Mahlberg with 3,668 votes to 3,595 votes, according to the certified election results.
Robitaille’s comments came during a report from the Registrar of Voters Office on some election mapping and ballot concerns she raised at previous board meetings – largely focused on District 3.
